Dynasty Warriors is Koei’s most popular game series. You play the role of a famous Chinese warrior from the Three Kingdoms period, fighting your way through legions of soldiers while defeating enemy officers, some quite a threat indeed, all to further your lord’s ambition to unify China. Gameplay isn’t very deep, but many truly enjoy it.

Koei has taken their popular Dynasty Warriors series to the world of portable handhelds, and unlike the Warriors series, each incarnation of Dynasty Warriors on a portable handheld is different from the other. The PSP version takes after Empires, for example, while the Advance version is to be something more like an overhead battle game.

Dynasty Tactics is a military strategy series from Koei. Unlike Koei’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, freeform games that focuses on battle, governing, and politics, Dynasty Tactics’ primary concern is military confrontation and conquest, all laid out along a predefined storyline. If you like strategy simulations, you should consider trying this series.

Kessen is a storyline-based romanticized strategy game based on either the Warring States period of Japanese history, or the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history. It is a very colorful game, with an equally colorful cast of characters (in many cases providing a complete deviation from actual history). It has established a pretty solid fan-base.

Destiny of an Emperor, born on the Nintendo Entertainment System, for many, is one of the finest games ever made. It, and its first sequel, are simple role-playing games with a surprising amount of depth. The third installment takes a queue from games like Secret of Mana, though most don’t consider it as good as the originals.

This section includes other Three Kingdoms era games that don’t quite fit into a mainstream category, or that were discontinued a long time ago. This doesn’t stop many people from truly enjoying them, however. Using the sections of this site we attempt to give people an opportunity to uncover these gems and experience them once again.
