Biography
Zhang Ying was an officer in the service of Liu Yao. When Sun Ce arrived with his forces to take their land, he offered to take an army to Niuzhu in an effort to entrench themselves and hold Sun Ce off. Liu Yao accepted, and Zhang Ying carried out his plan, but he was defeated. Liu Yao originally meant to have him executed, but was convinced otherwise by his advisors.
Liu Yao was later defeated and fled to Liu Biao. Sun Ce turned to Moling, where Zhang Ying and Xue Li defended the last of his territories. Sun Ce called for Xue Li to surrender, and they responded with a volley of arrows, striking Sun Ce with one of them. Sun Ce had a rumor spread that he was wounded, and Xue Li and Zhang Ying took they bait. They left their fortification to attack, but instead fell into an ambush. They both died, Zhang Ying cut down by Chen Wu.
