Biography

Historic (Confirmed)

Wang Zhi was younger brother to regular attendant Wang Fu. Cai Yong had been banished Shoufang in AD 178, but soon to the capital under a general amnesty. However, Wang Zhi, then Grand Administrator of Wuyuan, reported that Cai Yong had insulted the court. Upon hearing this Cai Yong fled to the Yangzi and the sea where he remained in exile for twelve years. (1) (2)

(1): Though Wang Fu and his clan fell from power in AD 179 Cai Yong probably wasn’t willing to risk further slander. It wasn’t until Dong Zhuo threatened him in AD 189 that he finally returned.
