Biography

Sanguo Yanyi

Min Gong was an aide in the Henan district, serving the Han. In AD 189, when the Ten Regular Attendants lost their authority in Luo Yang, numerous Han commanders including Yuan Shao entered the capital to find and slay them. Zhang Rang with Duan Gui escaped the chaos, but not before abducting Emperor Bian and Prince Xie (later Emperor Xian).

At Beimang Hill, Min Gong caught up with them. Zhang Rang drown himself, Duan Gui escaped, and the Emperor and prince hid in weeds by a near river. Later, they found their way to a farm where they were cared for by Cui Yi. Min Gong found and killed Duan Gui, then located Cui Yi’s farm along with Emperor Bian and prince Xie. Together, they rode back to Luoyang where they were reunited with a much larger force led by Yuan Shao.
