Biography
He Meng was an officer under Lü Bu, who actually did very little to help his liege. In the novel, He Meng helps in Gao Shun’s battle against Xiahou Dun and Liu Bei. He also, in the novel, helps escort Wang Kai and Xu Si (two envoys of Lü Bu), to the land of Yuan Shu. Historically, neither of these things ever happened, because He Meng rebelled against Lü Bu in Xia Pi before Lü Bu was besieged by Cao Cao. He planned this revolt at nighttime, and forced Lü Bu to flee in his night robes to the camp of Gao Shun. Fortunately for Lü Bu, Gao Shun was able to defeat He Meng, and Cao Xing, another officer under Lü Bu, later beheaded the rebel.
