Biography

Historic (Confirmed)

Gan Huai was Gan Ning’s son. Some time after Gan Ning died of illness Gan Huai was exiled from Wu to Kuaiji, on account of some offense, and died soon after. History does not mention him as having attained rank, which is a little unusual under Sun Quan who usually took care of his officer’s children. This would seem even more likely given Sun Quan’s admiration of Gan Ning. Perhaps the trouble caused by Gan Huai was extensive enough that he couldn’t be retained in the government, or perhaps Sun Quan was disappointed with the way in which he compared to his father.
