Ding Gu held the rank of Minister of Justice under Sun Xiu. When Sun Hao became emperor in 264, he made Ding Gu Left Imperial Counselor (Zuǒ Yùshĭ Dàfū 左御史大夫). In 268, Sun Hao made Ding Gu Minister over the Masses (Sītú 司徒).
