Used by Cai Mao to guard the east gate in case Liu Bei slipped through his plot. Later, after Cai Mao was executed by Cao Cao, Cai He was sent with Cai Zhong as pretend defectors to spy on Wu but Zhou Yu and his officers saw through the ploy. Cai He was fed information that Huang Gai, Kan Zhe and Gan Ning which to defect and when the attack started, Cai He was sacrificed to the flag.
