Dynasty Warriors 5 features special items which you can only get by meeting special conditions on certain stages (on any difficulty), saddles and harnesses used to start stages with a special mount, and elemental orbs, which add special capabilities to your charge attacks. This section explains what these items do, and where they can be found.

Rare Items (Red Items)
Obtain rare items by meeting special requirements on stages. Find on any difficulty.
Arm Guards
Accessory
Effect: No damage taken during charge attacks.
Stage: Si Shui Gate (Dong Zhuo’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Sun Jian before Cao Cao arrives with his reinforcements.
Art of War
Accessory
Effect: Ability-boosting items last longer.
Stage: Battle of Chi Bi (Cao Cao’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Zhuge Liang right after his unit begins to retreat.
Bodyguard Manual
Accessory
Effect: Your bodyguard becomes stronger.
Stage: Guan Yu’s Escape (Guan Yu’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Zhang Liao and Xu Huang.
Demon Band
Accessory
Effect: Musou Rage lasts longer.
Stage: Battle of Xi Liang (Yellow Turban Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Ma Chao within three minutes of his appearance.
Fire Arrows
Accessory
Effect: Your arrows become fire arrows.
Stage: Battle of Ji Province (Yuan Shao’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: After defeating Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang, defeat Pei Yuanshao.
Green Scroll
Accessory
Effect: Attack increases and defense decreases.
Stage: Battle of Jie Ting (Shu Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Sima Yi within three minutes of defeating Xu Zhu.
Musou Armor
Accessory
Effect: No longer stunned by bow attacks.
Stage: Conquest of Nan Zhong (Nanman Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat all seven Juggernauts within seven minutes of the first destruction.
Serpent Earrings
Accessory
Effect: Permanent Attack +2 for every hundred kills.
Stage: Battle of He Fei (Wu Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Xu Huang and Xiahou Dun within one minute of their appearance.
Survival Guide
Accessory
Effect: Attack x2 after being knocked down in red health.
Stage: Battle of Hu Lao Gate (Dong Zhuo’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Jian, and Gongsun Zan.
Tiger Collar
Accessory
Effect: Begin stage with a tiger bodyguard.
Stage: Struggle for Nan Zhong (Nanman Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat three Beastmaster units within the first minute of the stage.
Tribal Remedy
Accessory
Effect: Health Recovery every hundred kills.
Stage: Battle of He Fei Castle (Wei Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Jiang Qin, Pan Zhang, and Sun Shao, along with both Rams.
Way of Musou
Accessory
Effect: Always use True Musou.
Stage: Battle of Mt. Ding Jun (Shu Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Xiahou Yuan before Cao Cao’s arrival.
Wind Scroll
Accessory
Effect: Attack range increases.
Stage: Battle of He Fei Castle (Wu Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Cao Ren within the first five minutes of the stage.
Rare Items (Harnesses)
Obtain rare items by meeting special requirements on stages. Find on any difficulty.
Elephant Harness
Harness
Effect: Begin stage mounted on an elephant.
Stage: Battle of Nan Zhong (Nanman Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Without allowing any enemy officers into your main camp, rescue Wu Tugu, King Duosi, and King Mulu.
Hex Mark Harness
Harness
Effect: Begin stage mounted on Hex Mark (Luck Increases)
Stage: Battle of Cheng Du (Liu Bei’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Zhang Ren within one minute of his ambush and save Pang Tong.
Red Hare Harness
Harness
Effect: Begin stage on Red Hare (Fastest Horse)
Stage: Battle of Chang Shan (Yuan Shao’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, all within a minute.
Shadow Harness
Harness
Effect: Begin Stage on Shadow Runner (Cannot be Dismounted)
Stage: Battle of Liang Province (Allied Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat both Zhang Ji and Hu Zhen within 45 seconds of their arrival. This may seem very difficulty, but in fact there isn’t much to it. Just make sure your officer gets the kills directly, and use Red Hare to move from one to the other (if you use another horse, you’ll have to cut it quite close). Clear both the northeast and southeast forts before Dong Zhuo arrives, and wait in one of them. He will say, “Did you think I would come without a plan?” and both officers will arrive. Kill the first, then run toward the second, which will be moving toward the center of the map.
Storm Harness

Effect: Begin Stage on Storm Runner (Point Earnings increase by 50%)
Stage: Battle of Guan Du (Cao Cao’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Yan Liang and Wen Chou within the first five minutes of the stage.
Elemental Orbs
Elemental orbs add an element to your charge attacks. Obtained on hard or higher difficulty.
Fire Orb
Elemental Orb
Effect: Adds fire damage to charge attacks.
Stage: Battle of Si Shui Gate (Allied Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat 200 enemies within two minutes.
Ice Orb
Elemental Orb
Effect: Charge attacks temporarily freeze enemies.
Stage: Battle of Guan Du (Yuan Shao’s Force)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Cao Pi within the first four minutes of the stage.
Light Orb
Elemental Orb
Effect: Attacks break through the enemy’s guard.
Stage: Battle of Wu Zhang Plains (Shu Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Cao Ren, Zhen Ji, and Xu Zhu within the first five minutes.
Shadow Orb
Elemental Orb
Effect: Uses musou gauge. Enemies may be killed in a single attack.
Stage: Battle of Wu Zhang Plains (Wei Forces)
Location: Precious Item Report.
Requirements: Defeat Jiang Wei while Zhuge Liang is still alive.
