Dynasty Warriors 4 will feature many new game additions along with new systems for certain aspects that you are already accustomed to. On this page we will detail new game features, like the Weapon Progression System, Elemental Jades, and the new Attack Machines, as information becomes available.

Weapon Progression and Elements

After enemy generals area defeated you will gain weapon experience. Use of charge attacks and combos will allow you to gain more points than usual. After you clear a stage, your weapon experience will be added and, if you have enough, your weapon will be improved. At first a weapon can only do 4 consecutive attacks, but with ranks you will be able to do five and then later six at once.

Jade items, when equipped, make elemental attacks possible with your weapon. You may equip jade items at any weapon level, but you may only have one element enabled at a time (e.g. no lightning death attacks). Elemental attacks are only possible when your Musou gauge is full. During charge attacks, the element will take effect according to a set probability. There are six different elements, and each element may grow to four levels. Depending on the level, damage or success of elemental effects will improve.

	Flame Jade Uses flame element in attacks. When you struck an enemy with this element they will continue to take damage for a set period of time.
	Thunder Jade Uses lightning element in attacks. When you struck an enemy with this element in your weapon units around the target will also be damaged by electricity.
	Death Jade Uses death element in attacks. When striking enemies with this element there is a chance that they will be instantly killed (officers loose a set percentage of life).
	Ice Jade Uses ice element in attacks. When you strike enemies while using this element there is a chance they will become frozen for a set period of time.
	Blaze Jade Uses blaze element in attacks. Enemies struck with this element take additional damage, and even suffer some damage when guarding.
	Poison Jade Uses poison element in attacks. Enemies struck with this element become poisoned, and while poisoned, suffer extra damage when hit.

New Attack Units

Several machines have been added to Dynasty Warriors 4.

	Ladder May be set up outside castle walls to allow your soldiers to climb and scale them.
	Bridge Vehicle Used to allow troops access across normally impassible terrain like rivers and trenches.
	Catapult Used when attacking castles to damage walls with rocks. Catapults may also be used to attack troops inside.
	Battering Ram Another machine used in attacking castles, this one to open castle gates.
	Tiger Tank Machine used to attack soldiers. Moves around and uses spurts of flame to inflict serious damage.
	Wooden Oxen Used to transport supplies to a set destination. Once prepared, they will move to that location.
	Multi-arrow Machine Large machine designed for shooting ten arrows at once by Zhuge Liang. Helpful when defending castles.
