Destiny of an Emperor: Officers From Chapter VII (Sun Quan)

You are here: [ Home –> Games –> Destiny of an Emperor –> Chapter VII ]

On this page all officers found in Destiny of an Emperor from after Liu Zheng’s defeat up until Sun Quan’s death are listed. With each entry we list power, intelligence, soldiers (if they don’t progress with levels), attack and defense power, any tactics they will have as an enemy, their tactical potential as an ally, and how they can be hired (if possible).

Chapter VII – Officers from Sun Quan’s Chapter

Chapter VII begins after Liu Zheng’s defeat, and ends with the death of Sun Quan.

Bu Xi
Str: 124, Int: 192, Men: 7003, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Po Yang Fortress (Battle)
(VS): Yan Re, Shui Lei, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Yi Xin, Li Jian
(Ally): Da Re, Hong Shui, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Chen Pu at Po Yang Fortress. Bu Xi is an intelligent officer with a decent strength and soldiers. He is available in the middle of Wu, and for this reason you may not be too interested in him. There are many better officers to add to your party and if you are in need of some extra power you should turn to them.

Chen Pu (Cheng Pu)
Str: 120, Int: 210, Men: 9326, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Po Yang Fortress (Battle)
(VS): Da Re, Hong Shui, Yin Xian, Ji Rou, Yi Xin, Li Jian
(Ally): Da Re, Hong Shui, Yin Xian, Ji Mian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Po Yang Fortress. Chen Pu is an excellent strategist with a high amount of soldiers and a decent strength. You will be able to hire him after your battle at Po Yang fortress. Chen Pu would be a good addition to your party because he has a high intelligence and many soldiers. He would be a great spell caster for battle. The only problem is the fact that some better strategists will be available soon and there are already several out there with about 3,000 less soldiers. If the extra soldiers are worth the lower intelligence you may want to use him, but otherwise stick to the better strategists.

Chen Wu
Str: 161, Int: 115, Men: 5014, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Wu Ling Castle (Battle)
(VS): Ye Huo, Shui Xing, Chi Xin, Shui Jian
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Fan Zhang at Wu Ling Castle. Chen Wu is fairly strong, has an average intelligence, and a good amount of soldiers. If you have the chance to recruit him you should consider your situation. If your average soldiers are below 2,000 then you can certainly use any generals that have over 5,000 men. If you are in this range, on the other hand, Chen Wu will actually hurt your strategy more than he will help it.

Ding Feng
Str: 120, Int: 184, Men: 15769, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Po Yang’s Gate (Battle)
(VS): Yan Re, Shui Lei, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Yi Xin, Li Jian
(Ally): Da Re, Hong Shui, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Po Yang Fortress’ gate. Ding Feng only has an average strength, but his intelligence is high and he has a huge following of soldiers. If you hire him it will be for this reason. He is very good at taking blows and he is not a bad spell caster. If the battles in the area have been very hard you may want to get him, but if you are beating them without difficulty you may want to wait until you can hire a general like Tai Si Ci or Lu Sun.

Fan Zhang
Str: 185, Int: 90, Men: 4780, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Wu Ling Castle (Battle)
(VS): Ye Huo, Shui Tu, Chi Xin, Wuo Jian
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Wu Ling Castle. Fan Zhang has a high strength and a great amount of soldiers. Add to that the fact that he is available right from the time in which you first enter Wu. If your generals average around 2,500 each or less Fan Zhang would be a great addition. If not, you should probably pass him up in favor of a smarter general that will survive the harsh tactics that the strategists of Wu employ.

Gan Ning
Str: 223, Int: 140, Men: 6069, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Jian An Castle (Battle)
(VS): None
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Jian An Castle. Gan Ning is available quite early and his soldiers and strength are very nice. He also has a high enough intelligence that he will not be hit every time a powerful tactic is used on him. If you are using one of the weaker Wu officers as an ally and you are still short on soldiers you may want to replace them with Gan Ning, but if you are doing well it may be best to pass him up in favor of a better officer.

Gu Yong
Str: 127, Int: 184, Men: 5014, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Hui Ji Fortress (Battle)
(VS): Yan Re, Shui Lei, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Yi Xin, Qi Shou
(Ally): Da Re, Hong Shui, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Zhou Yu at Hui Ji Fortress. Gu Yong is intelligent but his strength and solders are probably too low to offer you much assistance. If you are looking for a powerful warrior or strategist to add to your party you may want to look for his former commander, Zhou Yu. If not, then wait for one of the better officers to become available.

Guan Xing
Str: 237, Int: 175, Men: By Level, Att: Varies, Def: Varies
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Chang Sha (Palace)
(VS): N/A
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Guan Xing joins when you arrive at Chang Sha castle to save Guan Yu and Zhang Fei from Wu’s attackers. His strength and intelligence are both very good and his soldiers will increase with your level. He is also one of the best generals in the game to give Chi Tu Ma to because he will go first nearly every turn.

Han Dang
Str: 180, Int: 115, Men: 5516, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Wu Castle (Battle)
(VS): Ye Huo, Shui Xing, Chi Xin, Shui Jian
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Zhuge Jin at Wu Castle. Although Han Dang has high strength, decent intelligence, and an average amount of soldiers he joins too late in the area to be of much assistance. You should pass him up in favor of a superior strategist or warrior, both of which are already available.

Huang Gai
Str: 207, Int: 103, Men: 9326, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Jin Du’s Gate (Battle)
(VS): Ye Huo, Shui Xing, Chi Xin, Wuo Jian
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Jin Du’s gate. Huang Gai has high strength, great soldiers, and a decent intelligence. He is available at about the halfway mark of Wu, and is one of the best warriors available for employment at this time. If you are having any trouble, or you are using one of the other weaker Wu officers, you should hire Huang to help out. If things are going great and you are not using an Wu assistance you should probably wait for someone a little bit better.

Jang Qin (Jiang Qin)
Str: 182, Int: 115, Men: 5259, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Random Encounter (Battle)
(VS): Ye Huo, Shui Xing, Chi Xin, Shui Jian
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Zhuge Jin at Wu Castle. Jang Qin, although not a terrible officer, joins too late in Wu to be of any real assistance. If you need a warrior you should wait for one of the better generals that will soon be available.

Kan Ze
Str: 160, Int: 199, Men: 5259, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Hui Ji Fortress (Battle)
(VS): Yan Re, Hong Shui, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Yi Xin, Li Jian
(Ally): Da Re, Hong Shui, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Zhou Yu at Hui Ji Fortress. Kan Ze has a high intelligence, good soldiers, and even a decent strength. He is an all around good officers with no real weaknesses. If you are using one of the Wu officers that you fought earlier as an ally or you are not interested in finding his commander, Zhou Yu, you should hire Kan Ze on the spot. Even if you have a better officer you may want to hire him simply to remove one more Hong Shui user from the area.

Ling Tong
Str: 161, Int: 103, Men: 5516, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Ling Ling Castle (Battle)
(VS): Ye huo, Shui Xing, Chi Xin, Wuo Jian
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Ling Ling Castle. Ling Tong will be available from the moment you enter Wu. He is a decent warrior and he would serve as a great addition if you had any difficulties removing the Wu officers from Jing Zhou. If this was not a problem and you find some of the Wu officers easy to defeat you should probably wait and hire one of the better generals.

Lu Ji
Str: 57, Int: 161, Men: 11289, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Jian Ye’s Third Gate (Battle)
(VS): Yan Re, Shui Xing, tong Xian, Shui Jian, Jie Ce, Qi Shou
(Ally): Yan Re, Hong Shui, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Gui Huan, Li Jian
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Sun Huan at Jian Ye’s third gate. Although Lu Ji has a good following of soldiers he is vary weak and he is not as intelligent as many of the other strategists in the area. He is only available late in the area and he does not compare well with the better officers that are already available. If you need assistance badly wait until Tai Si Ci and Lu Sun are available. You can retreat from Sun Quan and return with them to help out.

Lu Meng
Str: 130, Int: 225, Men: 14333, Att: 130, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Location: Jin Du City (Battle)
(VS): Da Re, Hong Shui, Wan Fu, Ji Mian, Yi Xin, Li Jian
(Ally): N/A
Recruiting: After you defeat Lu Meng, you will never see him again. He cannot be hired.

Lu Su
Str: 120, Int: 218, Men: 6365, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jian An Castle (Battle)
(VS): Da Re, Hong Shui, Yin Xian, ji Mian, Yi Xin, Li Jian
(Ally): Da Re, Hong Shui, Yin Xian, Ji Mian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Gan Ning at Jian An Castle. Lu Su is a great strategist with good soldiers and a decent strength. If you have not yet hired one of the good Wu officers and you are struggling you should not hesitate to add Lu Su to your side. If you are doing well, or you have a high level, you may want to wait. Even if you do not need him you should hire him just because he casts so many powerful tactics.

Lu Sun (Lu Xun)
Str: 215, Int: 240, Men: 11841, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jian Ye Castle (First Battle)
(VS): Da Re, Hong Shui, Wan Fu, Ji Mian, Yi Xin, Bei Ji
(Ally): Huo Shen, Shui Long, Wan Fu, Ce Mian, Gui Huan, Bei Ji
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Tai Si Ci and him at Jian Ye Castle. To hire him before defeating Sun Quan, retreat when you first face him. You can then return with Lu Sun, if you wish. Lu Sun is, without question, the best officer in all of Wu. He is even more dangerous than Sun Quan and Zhou Yu. Although he is only available at the end of the area, you may wish to hire him before entering Wei. Even when compared to Wei officers he is among the best. If you are not interested in using him in battle, you should still hire him just so you don’t see him in random encounters anymore. Lu Sun is also an excellent officer for use in either of the Game Challenges featured here at Kongming’s Archives.

Sun Huan
Str: 215, Int: 115, Men: 170, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jian Ye’s Third Gate (Battle)
(VS): Ye Huo, Shui Xing, Chi Xin, Shui Jian
(Ally): N/A
Recruiting: Sun family members cannot be hired, even after the death of Sun Quan.

Sun Quan
Str: 228, Int: 207, Men: 19087, Att: 240, Def: 170
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jian Ye Castle (Battle)
(VS): Da Re, Hong Shui, Yin Xian, Ji Mian, Yi Xin, Li Jian
(Ally): N/A
Recruiting: Sun Quan is executed after his defeat at Jian Ye castle.

Sun Yi
Str: 172, Int: 46, Men: 15769, Att: 170, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jian Ye’s First Gate (Battle)
(VS): None
(Ally): N/A
Recruiting: Sun family members cannot be hired, even after the death of Sun Quan.

Sun Yu
Str: 210, Int: 180, Men: 13027, Att: 170, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jin Du Castle (Battle)
(VS): Yan Re, Shui Lei, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Jie Ce, Qi Shou
(Ally): N/A
Recruiting: Sun family members cannot be hired, even after the death of Sun Quan.

Tai Si Ci (Taishi Ci)
Str: 230, Int: 123, Men: 15769, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jian Ye Castle (Battle)
(VS): None
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Jian Ye Castle. Tai Si Ci is very strong and has a huge following of soldiers.  If your generals average around 10,000 soldiers each or less you should hire Tai Si Ci or Lu Sun before entering Wu.  If you use tactics frequently or use an An Sha type strategist you should hire Lu Sun.  If you prefer attacking to do your damage and don’t mind resurrecting him on occasion because he got hit with An Sha, choose Tai Si Ci.  If anything you should hire him just to make sure you won’t fight him again. Taishi Ci is an excellent officer to use in Lord Yuan Shu’s Game Challenge, though when facing our own challenge, you are better off picking Lu Sun.

Wu Fan
Str: 69, Int: 184, Men: 5014, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Ling Ling Castle (Battle)
(VS): Yan Re, Shui Lei, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Yi Xin, Qi Shou
(Ally): Da Re, Hong Shui, Tong Xian, Shui Jian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Ling Tong at Ling Ling Castle. Wu Fan has good intelligence and a great amount of soldiers.  If you are weak when you enter Wu and enjoy using strategists you should hire a general like Wu Fan to help with the first few battles.  If this is not the case, and you are powerful, you should probably wait and hire a better ally.

Xu Sheng
Str: 195, Int: 103, Men: 11289, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jian Ye’s Third Gate (Battle)
(VS): None
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Sun Huan at Jian Ye’s third gate. Xu Sheng is strong, has a great amount of soldiers, and a decent intelligence.  The only problem is the fact that he joins you too late in Wu to be of any exceptional assistance.  If you are having serious trouble defeating Tai Si Ci at Jian Ye you should hire him for the extra muscle, but if this is not true conquer Jian Ye hire Tai Si Ci or Lu Sun.

Xue Zong
Str: 69, Int: 115, Men: 9326, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jian Ye’s Second Gate (Battle)
(VS): Ye Huo, Shui Xing, Chi Xin, Shui Jian
(Ally): Ye Huo, Shui Xing, Chi Xin, Shui Jian
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Zhou Tai at Jian Ye’s second gate. Although Xue Zong has many soldiers both his intelligence and strength are quite lacking.  You should not bother with him because there are so many other good generals available at this point.

Yan Xun
Str: 69, Int: 138, Men: 10261, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Random Encounter Only
(VS): Yan Re, Shui Xing, Chi Xin, Shui Jian, Cheng Nei
(Ally): N/A
Recruiting: Yan Xun cannot be hired. Because you never meet Yan Xun at a major battle he never reaches a point were he would join after a battle.  He cannot be hired, but it doesn’t matter because he’s not a very good general to begin with.

Zhang Bao
Str: 240, Int: 150, Men: By Level, Att: Varies, Def: Varies
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Gui Yang (Palace)
(VS): N/A
(Ally): None
Recruiting: When you arrive at Gui Yang castle on Liu Bei’s mission to save Guan Yu and Zhang Fei from the Wei invasion, Zhang Bao will be standing next to Zhang Fei. If you speak with him, he will offer to join you. Zhang Bao has a very high strength, and gains more soldiers than any other variable soldier officer in the game. In fact, at the highest possible level, level 51, his soldiers are actually higher than Sima Yi’s. He also has a decent intelligence at 150—something that you will start seeing the value of almost immediately. Still, because both Zhang Bao and Guan Xing cannot be removed from your party once they join, some jaded players prefer to leave Zhang Bao unhired, or to force him into the reserve by hiring him with seven officers in your party (once in your party, Zhang Bao cannot be removed). This gives you the option of having both Zhuge Liang and Jiang Wei in your party at the same time later in the game, with one or the other serving as strategist at the same time. This is not suggested for new players.

Zhang Hong
Str: 113, Int: 211, Men: 10763, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jin Du Castle (Battle)
(VS): Da Re, Hong Shui, Yin Xian, Ji Mian, Yi Xin, Li Jian
(Ally): Da Re, Hong Shui, Yin Xian, Ji Mian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Sun Yu at Jin Du Castle. Not only is Zhang Hong a great strategist with many soldiers, he also has a decent strength and is available at a good point in the Wu campaign.  If you are having any difficulties or you like to use strategists you should stop and look for him.  He would make a great addition to your party.  Even if you are not interested in hiring him you should still accept his services just to prevent him from appearing in any more random battles.

Zhang Zhao
Str: 140, Int: 240, Men: 8082, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Po Yang Fortress (Battle)
(VS): Da Re, Hong Shui, Wan Fu, Ji Mian, Yi Xin, Bei Ji
(Ally): Huo Shen, Shui Long, Wan Fu, Ce Mian, Gui Huan, Bei Ji
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Chen Pu at Po Yang Fortress. Zhang Zhao is one of the two best strategists in Wu and you should hire him as soon as you get the chance.  Is a very good at casting tactics, has a good strength, and a great following of soldiers.  If you are using any Wu officers besides Zhou Yu you should replace them with Zhang Zhao.  Even if you do not need him you should hire him just so there is one less officer with all best attacking tactics in the game to fight.

Zhou Tai
Str: 180, Int: 45, Men: 10763, Att: 150, Def: 170
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jian Ye’s Second Gate (Battle)
(VS): None
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Jian Ye’s second gate. Zhou Tai is a great warrior with many soldiers. He is also the best warrior of Wu to hire at this point in the game. If you are depending on one of Wu’s warriors at this time you may want to replace them with Zhou Tai. The only exceptions would be if you are very powerful or if you like to use An Sha frequently.

Zhou Yu
Str: 195, Int: 230, Men: 6365, Att: 150, Def: 170
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Hui Ji Fortress (Battle)
(VS): Da Re, Hong Shui, Wan Fu, Ji Mian, Yi Xin, An Sha
(Ally): Huo Shen, Shui Long, Wan Fu, Ji Mian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Hui Ji Fortress. Zhou Yu is available early in the Wu campaign and he is also a great all-around general. Even if your officers are too strong for him to be of use in combat, there are a few reasons why you should hire him. First, he is the best An Sha capable strategist in the entire game (yes, even better than Jiang Wei). Second, having him as an An Sha strategist allows you to use Zhang Bao, Jiang Wei, and Zhuge Liang in your active party at the same time (a great solution for Zhang Bao fans). Finally, you don’t have to worry about finding him in random encounters anymore. It is also worth pointing out that he is an excellent officer to hire in either of the two featured Destiny of an Emperor Challenges.

Zhu Ge Jin (Zhuge Jin)
Str: 125, Int: 215, Men: 6565, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Wu Castle (Battle)
(VS): Da Re, Hong Shui, Yin Xian, Ji Mian, Yi Xin, Li Jian
(Ally): Da Re, Hong Shui, Yin Xian, Ji Mian, Gui Huan, An Sha
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat him at Wu Castle. Zhuge Jin is available early and is a great strategist. If you like casting tactics, or are using Zhou Yu as your strategist, you should probably at least try using him in battle. Even if you are not interested you should hire him just because he knows Ji Mian and can seriously complicate some random battles that would otherwise be much easier.

Zhu Zhi
Str: 210, Int: 95, Men: 10261, Att: 150, Def: 160
Chapter: VII (Sun Quan in Wu), Jin Du Castle (Battle)
(VS): None
(Ally): None
Recruiting: Can be hired in random encounters after you defeat Sun Yu at Jin Du Castle. Zhu Zhi is a great officer and unlike Zhou Tai he does not have a very low intelligence. If you are using a weaker officer or if you just want to replace Zhou Tai with a slightly better warrior he would be a great general to hire. If you use Zhou Yu as a strategist or like to use tactics frequently you should probably wait for a smarter officer.
