Presenting a vast collection of Romance of the Three Kingdoms game, novel, and history-related wallpaper (desktop pictures). Content includes original art from producing companies (like Koei) and fan art by many site viewers.
Each listing includes the wallpaper name, a preview image, a link to a 640x480 preview, a list of available resolutions, a link to the .zip file download, and the author name (which may include an email or Web site link). Wallpaper by submitting authors is not to be used on a Web site without proper authorization (contact them and ask). Do not remote link to contents on this page.
Please note that 640x480px versions are not included in .zip downloads; you must download them using the preview link. 1152x870px wallpapers are no longer available, use the highest alternative resolution instead.

Here is a new collection of Wallpapers to which I will make new additions as time passes. Each wallpaper features an officer portrait (from a Koei game, thus far Dynasty Warriors 3) along with a large hanzi for that officer’s kingdom, Hanzi for the officers name, and finally their name and style in English.
Featured wallpaper in this section comes in four versions: a darker vivid version for people that like art and pretty desktops, and a faded version for people that need a neutral desktop that doesn’t conflict with work. For each of these variations there are two more options: one with the officer on the left, and one with the officer on the right. Ideally you should choose the wallpaper that places the officer opposite to the files on your desktop (e.g. Windows users will usually like the officer to be on the right, while Mac users may want him on the left).
If you have any feedback at all, please send me an email.
Three Kingdoms wallpaper created from a Wordle based on the entire contents of Luo Guanzhong’s novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Two variations are available: one colored, and one toned down in ‘paper’-like shades. Have a look at our forum for other Romance of the Three Kingdoms Wordles and have a look at the ‘readme.txt’ file in the download to easily create your own and learn more.
Here are some desktop pictures I made that relate to the Three Kingdoms era, but are not tied to any game in particular. The color themes are similar to what you see in nearly all Romance of the Three Kingdoms games though: blue = Wei, red = Wu, green = Shu.
Here is a desktop picture made from Romance of the Three Kingdoms VIII game art by Koei.
Here is a desktop picture made from part of the splash screen found in Koei’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms V. The three characters in the wallpaper are, from left to right, Cao Cao, lord of Wei; Liu Bei, lord of Shu; and Sun Quan, lord of Wu. My thanks to Sain Cai for getting me the screenshot from which this wallpaper was made (website: 5-tigers.net).
Dynasty Warriors 4 continues Koei’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms action saga in which you take the role of a lone warrior facing thousands of enemies. Game wallpaper will be included below.
Dynasty Warriors 3 is an RTK based game by Koei in which you select an officer and fight across the battlefield fighting soldiers and enemy officers. For more information see Koei’s Dynasty Warriors 3 site and the Dynasty Warriors 3 section on this web page. All images below that are credited to Koei were found on Koei’s Web site, I resized them to other resolutions and added black space so you could use them on multiple screen resolutions without distortion.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Xtreme Legends (Shin Sangokumusou 2: Moushouden) was an extension released for the popular Dynasty Warriors 3 game in Japan. Xtreme Legends introduced many new features, Koei released these wallpaper images to promote it.
Dynasty Warriors 2 is an RTK based game by Koei in which you select an officer and fight across the battlefield fighting soldiers and enemy officers. For more information see Koei’s Dynasty Warriors 2 site and the Dynasty Warriors 2 section on this web page. The following images were found on Koei’s Web site, I resized them to other resolutions so you could use them on multiple screen resolutions.

Kessen 2 wallpaper made by site viewers.
Here is all the wallpaper released by Koei for Kessen. These images are no longer available on the official game sites so we have decided to provide them for you here. There are 9 of them in total, all included in the archive download. (If I actually knew the names of the officers in this game I could tell you who they are).
Fate of the Dragon and Dragon Throne are Warcraft-style Romance of the Three Kingdoms games by Object Software. Object Software has made some beautiful wallpaper for these games, but unfortunately all links on their site have been damaged (looks like the fault of an inexperienced employee). I was able to figure out what the links were supposed to be, so I downloaded the wallpaper. It would be a shame to waste all that great work. Remember, all Fate of the Dragon wallpaper is by Object Software.
