Kongming’s Archives – Romance of the Three Kingdoms Novel Events
[ Home –> Three Kingdoms History –> Novel Events ]
This Welcome to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms events page. Here you will find a collection of event ‘biographies’, each containing an introduction to a popular Three Kingdoms event, followed by the event itself, and ending with an afterword from the author describing the results of the event in question, along with relevant results for involved characters and kingdoms.
It is important to note that the events are based off the novel, so they cannot be used as historical references (though they may contain historical footnotes to describe inconsistencies). Also, do not expect to get a proper glimpse of the joys of reading Romance of the Three Kingdoms through biographies and events listed on this site—the novel is over 2’000 pages long, and virtually every step of the way is just as interesting and exciting as the biographies and events here. Additionally, reading the novel can help you to appreciate what we do cover on the site much more.

Submission Guidelines
Would you like to submit an event ‘biography’ for inclusion in this section? It is easy, and the event summaries themselves are quite easy to prepare. Please include all the information below and submit it using the email form found on this site, and after your work is reviewed you will receive feedback or it will be posted online for all to see. Feel free to submit any questions you might have as well.
- Event Name
Give a name for the submitted event.
- Event Date (Beginning/End)
The start and end dates of the submitted event.
- Event Chapter(s)
The chapter(s) in which the event appears.
- An Introduction
This event ‘biography’ will be read by people who have never read the novel before, so an introduction will be necessary to show the reader what is happening. Depending on the size of the event, the introduction could be as little as a single healthy paragraph, or even a page worth of explanation. Include introductory facts relevant to the event itself, but focus on information, saving smaller details for the event body text. See events listed above for examples.
- The Event Itself
This part of your submission contains the actual event. You have two choices for this part of your event ‘biography’. You can create an event compilation drawing from multiple sources (please list them for inclusion in the copyright), as is done with our Sanguo yanyi biographies, or you can use text from an existing translation of the novel through copyright fair use. If you create a compilation the full text must be your original work, with any quotes being properly labeled. If you use text from an existing novel translation the full text must be faithful to the original, and the original novel must be identified. Author notes may be placed wherever you deem appropriate regardless of the method you choose.
- An Afterword
Just as is the case with the introduction, ending where the event ends will leave the reader with a sour taste in their mouth, especially if they have never read the novel. Use the afterward to tell the reader what came of the submitted event, or share relevant details on what happened to some characters. Essentially, tie the contents of the event into an ending the reader enjoys concluding with. As always, you can use existing event ‘biographies’ on this page to get an idea of what the afterward might look like.
- Personal Information
If you have not ever submitted content to Kongming’s Archives before, please include your name and, if you wish, an email address or web site which you would like to be credited accordingly.
