Biography
Jiang Wei marched to Qishan to find a Wei army opposing him there so decided to make an attack on Nanan. Bao Su camped at the mouth of the Qishan Mountains Valley with orders to “Now from this as base you are to send out daily small reconnoitring parties showing my banner, but different flags and uniforms, blue, yellow, red, white, and black, in turns. While you are thus distracting attention, I will lead the main army by Dongting to attack Nanan.”
Bao Su’s distraction worked for some days when Deng Ai grew suspicious over a lack of challenges coming from the Shu army. Going to the summit of a hill, he realised the feint so went to reinforce Nanan. Chen Tai attack Bao Su’s army and defeated it, Bao Su falling in the process, the Shu remnants forced to return to Hanzhong.
